Tick Tock

So the wait continues. Travis and I went to my 39 week appointment this morning and while I'm doing "perfectly" as far as being pregnant goes, I haven't made any progress in the last two weeks. I'm still 50% effaced and 2 centimeters dilated. Not to mention I picked up a lovely cold from Lily about two days ago. I think the cold has me more run down than being pregnant. I am so ready to get this show on the road, like the song goes, waiting is the hardest part. Oh well, he'll come when he's ready I suppose. Thanks for reading my rant of an entry.

Just waiting on baby....

Here are some pictures of Charlie's room . The curtains are finally finished and the rods came in so they went up this morning. The girl that made them did a beautiful job and they look great, especially the over sized grommets. Travis hung the new light fixture a few weeks ago and I must brag that he did it in about 10 minutes, I was impressed. A special thank you to Charlie's Nana and Papa for all the generous contributions to the room! Now if we can only get our little man here. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and I promise to keep everyone posted. I am 39 weeks and ready, so if you have any baby dust please send it my way!

More 4th of July Pictures

Here are some more 4Th of July pictures that John and Paula Hicks sent yesterday. The first one is of Travis and me at daddy's birthday party. The two of Lily and Travis swimming I just adore! The last picture is of the infamous Cliff Ridge bear. John and Paula were woken up early one morning by the sound of the bear ram sacking their trash can. Hey, bears like breakfast too!

Poor Travis

On Thursday of last week I went to Travis' doctor appointment with him to discuss his options for his knee. A little background, Travis injured his knee years ago playing football for Georgia and it has never been "right" since. He had surgery on it back then but in the last couple of years it has become more problematic. Back to current day, we saw Dr Evan Ekman who really is an expert in sports medicine. He treats tons of NFL,NBA, tennis pros and the like. We figured if they trust him, we could. Well come to find out, his knee was in worst shape than any of us thought. Surgery was the only option, which we knew anyway. It just so happened he had an opening on Friday so we said let's do it. I was a little apprehensive about the timing, being Charlie should be arriving anytime, but we went ahead with it. After the surgery Dr. Ekman said that the knee was much worse than he could even make out on the MRI and that Travis, once recovered, would feel much better. Travis has been a trooper through it all despite being really uncomfortable. Lily and I have tried very hard to nurse him back to health. Lily has also needed her leg wrapped like daddy's and needed a special bed of propped pillows to make her comfortable as well. It's been very humorous to say the least. Travis said Lily and I would be getting a special present for being such wonderful nurses. :) But what else could we do, we love our daddy! Feel better soon Travis!

Squeaky the Mouse

The funniest story from this weekend. While in the mountains, my family and I were vi sting friends in the neighborhood, Sonny and Anna. Well we were out in Sonny's garage and Lily found this little toy mouse that must be a hundred years old. She instantly fell in love with it and named it Squeaky. Seeing the immediate bond between the two of them, Sonny gave her Squeaky. Well the whole week the two were inseparable, she even slept with him. Well one afternoon I came around the corner and found Squeaky alone, in a pile of goldfish. I could have fallen over from laughter. Lily told me she had to feed Squeaky because he was so hungry. I had to take a picture as I don't want to forget this one.

Happy Birthday America and Daddy!

The trip to the mountains was wonderful! The temperature stayed in the low to mid 70's all week and the weather was gorgeous. We had a great time in the annual parade of golf carts, model cars, segway scooters and bicycles. My dad's birthday was on Friday and Travis cooked an amazing dinner for about 20 people. I was told more than once that we should either go into the catering business or open a restaurant. Kudos to Travis the Chef! Chancellor and Lily were so much fun and played hard. Lily slept to almost 9 one morning, a far cry from the usual 6:30 wake up call she gives her daddy and me everyday. My parents were terrific hosts as always and mom was wonderful about chasing after Lily so that I didn't have to so much. As you can imagine, I'm not doing much "chasing" after anything these days. :) I hope everyone had a safe and happy 4Th. Until next time....

We're Off....

Travis, Chancellor, Lily and I are leaving this afternoon for the mountains for our last vacation before Charlie gets here. Driving in to work this morning I thought just how bittersweet it is. While we are thrilled to have our new little man joining our family, the thought of us not being "as we are" is a bit foreign. It's hard for me to imagine that Lily won't be the baby anymore. I
really am looking forward to spending special time with Travis and each of the children as I know that in a few weeks everything will be changing. If you would have told me 5 years ago that this is were I would be in my life and what I would be doing, I imagine I would have said, yeah right. I would have never believed that I would have so many blessings. I plan on taking a million pictures this week and posting them next Monday when I return to work. Not to rub it in, but I hear the average temperature in the mountains is in the low 70's during the day and high 50's at night. Perfect pregnant weather! Have a safe and happy 4Th!

Leapin Lizards

Yesterday Lily and I went to a birthday party for Will Kirk at Leapin Lizards. Lily had so much fun! I had to post the second picture of Lily and her cousin Sadie because I saw it and thought, wow, they really aren't babies anymore. Thanks again to Leslie and Pat for inviting us to share in Will's special day. And Leslie, baby Charlie and I really enjoyed our two pieces of birthday cake! :)
