Saturday on the Farm

Lily, mom and I spent some time this weekend at my grandparents house and farm in Clinton. Lily loves seeing Pops cows, especially the babies. The cows are as curious about her as she is about them. Spending time with my grandparents, mother and daughter is very special to me as I know that not many people have four generations of family together at one time. My grandfather is very excited about the arrival of Charlie, his first great-grandson. He informed me this weekend the family tradition is to put the new baby boys on the biggest, loudest tractor and take them for a couple of trips around the hay field to "break them in". I'm thrilled with the idea! I'll be going out directly to find the perfect smocked outfit with a farm scene to mark the occasion. HeHeHe. I'm sure all the men in my family will appreciate it.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day Travis! I'm so lucky to be married to the most amazing man and father in the world. You are the most wonderful dad to our children and watching you interact with them everyday makes me fall in love with you over and over. The way you are never too tired to play one more inning of baseball with Chancellor, play dress up with Lily (and have your picture taken), and spend time explaining all things that have to do with plants, nature, creepy crawlies and life to them, inspires me. We are so blessed to have you in our life and we love you!

And to my dad and Travis', thanks for setting such wonderful examples. You are the best father's and grandfather's ever!

All things baseball

A quick update on Chancellor's All Stars tournament. After many nights of game cancellations due to rain, they finally played last night. The team did well enough during the tournament to advance to another tournament series. We are all very excited for Chancellor and his teammates!

EXTRA! EXTRA!

Just wanted to share how very proud we are of Chancellor! A few weeks ago he wrapped up his regular baseball season and was selected to play All Stars. His normal position is first base but since being placed on All Stars he was put in the catcher's position, one he has never played before. Well he took to it like a fish in water and loves it. This past weekend started his regional All Stars tournament. His team played their hearts out Friday night but ended up coming short of the win. Saturday morning Travis went and got him a really nice new catchers mitt and spent the day breaking it in, in hopes that Chancellor could warm up with it Saturday night and use it during the game. Needless to say, Chancellor was thrilled with the new mitt and couldn't wait to use it. Saturday night rolls around and the weight of the game being a lose and that's the end of the season or win and keep playing for a chance at the title was on every ones mind. Chance's coaches decided that while he did pretty well with his new glove, he better stick to the old one for the game since he was used to it, well he was pretty disappointed and so was his daddy. In the final inning of the game, Daddy overrides the coaches and lets Chancellor use his new catcher's mitt (Chance's team was winning 5-2). The opposing team caught up to 5-4 with 2 outs an a man on 2nd (tying run). Batter gets a hit to the outfield, outfielder relays to third baseman, third baseman relays to home and Chancellor makes the tag at the plate for the game saving out! The crowd went nuts! Chancellor was all smiles and spent the rest of the evening getting thumbs up and high fives along with the game ball. So tonight is game 3 and I'll be sure to let you know how it goes. Once again, we love you Chancellor and are so proud of you making All Stars this year!

How silly of mommy....

A quick little story from last night. It was dinner time and I asked Lily what she would like and she said she wanted a jelly sandwich. I said, don't you mean a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, which she replied, no mommy a jelly sandwich. Not believing her I said, maybe you want jelly toast? She grew very frustrated with me and said, NO, I WANT A JELLY SANDWICH! So I made her a grape jelly sandwich and gave it to her, she pulled back a corner of the bread and said, Mommy, where's the peanut butter?????????????? So after I added the peanut butter she was pleased as could be and very much enjoyed her jelly sandwich. :)

The 21st Century

So thanks to the urging of Jennifer Daniels to "get with it" and create a blog, I'm finally here! I hope that you enjoy logging on from time to time and seeing what's new with Chancellor, Lily, and in just a few weeks our newest addition, Charlie. I have such a great family, now I can show them off!

Speaking of Charlie, I would like to thank Ashley, Stephanie, Missy and Emily for the beautiful baby shower on Sunday, as well as to all the friends and family who came or sent gifts. I had a great time and got amazing gifts, so again , thank you. Now let's just get Charlie here!

Lots of xoxo, Charleston
