Pictures and Update

Let's start with the pictures. Last Wednesday, I went to Camden to celebrate Pam's birthday. It was great seeing everyone and hanging out with my "old crew". It has been too long since I've been with my girlfriends! The other pictures are from Chancellor's baseball game on Saturday and one of Charlie taken on Sunday at Ed and Diane's.

Last week I finished the last of the tests to try and determine what was wrong with me. Ultrasound, blood work, and the scope of my stomach and upper intestines came back normal. I'm glad to know nothing is seriously wrong, just too much stress that manifest itself into pretty uncomfortable stomach aliments. So I guess I just "unstress", that should be easy!

Mommy

The last few weeks I have not been feeling too great, as I have had a lot of stomach pain and nausea. Last week I saw a gastroenterologist who felt that I had either a problem with my gall bladder or a stomach ulcer. On Friday I went for a complete abdominal ultrasound. I am waiting for those results as I type this. The lab made a mistake with my blood work and may possibly need me to come back for some more samples. Ugh. It took 12 sticks to get what they got the first time because I was so dehydrated. They even tried getting blood from the veins in my feet. That experience alone was enough to give me an ulcer!

On Thursday morning I am have a endoscopy procedure. They put me to sleep and put a camera down my throat into my stomach and upper intestine to look and see if I have some issue causing my pain. Once again I believe the anticipation of the procedure will give me an ulcer.

I know that I have a tremendous amount of stress in my life right now and that stress makes people sick. I am hoping that they can get to the root of my problem, diagnose and treat it. It's not a fun way to go about life. I am fortunate to have a loving, supportive, catch of a husband to take care of me and our children. He is an earth angel and I'm lucky to not go at this alone. I'll keep you posted on the results.

Sick, sick, sick!

Since Saturday the Laffin home has been quarantined. Charlie and Lily came down with croup and were in after hours emergency care on Sunday. Charlie was given a shot of steroids to help his breathing. The next day I was back at the doctor with Charlie because his breathing was still laboured. We got a prescription for oral steroids and sent on our way. As the days and nights dragged on so did the fevers and misery. They both seemed to never really turn the corner and get better. So today I took Lily and Charlie back to the doctor. They have upper respiratory infections and Charlie has a double ear infection. Now we are on antibiotics. As of 15 minutes ago they were both running fevers of 101.

I can tell you that I have been almost as miserable as they have because watching little people suffer is torture on a Mommy's heart. Travis and I have double teamed it 100%. He really is a tremendous help and I appreciate that he is such a "hands on" daddy. So I'm hoping that after a few more days we will be well and back to normal!
