Lily turns 4!

I have an excuse for not posting on Lily's actual birthday this year, it's on Christmas and I was busy celebration with my kids and never made it to a computer until today.

I can not believe that my baby is four years old! She really is the light of my life and my funny bone. When she smiles it lights up my day and makes everything bright and beautiful. Travis and I are so blessed to be given such a talented, FUNNY, and genuine little girl . There is not an hour that goes by that she is not telling us how much she loves us.

Lily, I hope you know that the sun rises and sets in you and I am the luckiest mommy in the world to have you as a daughter. You are loved to the moon and back by everyone who meets you. You have such a breathless charm about you and I am totally enchanted. I am yours, love, Mommy

Just a few more days

This coming Saturday is Lily's birthday party at Columbia Marionette Theater. I don't know if Lily is going to make it. Between a tree full of presents and the thought of her party coming up she just might explode. Every day she asks me if it's her birthday/Christmas yet and each day I tell her no, not yet, she seems more and more discouraged as if the day will never come. Bless her heart, I feel bad for her, it's torture! I think it's torture for me because my sweet, sweet girl is turning 4 and it makes me sad to see time flying by so very fast.

Travis is flying out in the morning for Texas. He is sick with something, not really sure what, but fever, sore throat and congested. He's pretty miserable.

Charlie is trying to add to his small collection of teeth but just can't seem to cut anymore. He only has four and I swear he is getting 4 more all at the same time. He has been a little bit fussy and needy.

Besides that, everything else is same old, same old. Just looking forward to Christmas this year. Every year it seems to be more special than the year before.

Brunch with Santa

Sunday we had brunch with Santa at the Summit Club. Lily was star struck, Chancellor was a bit skeptical but figured out soon that this really was Santa, and Charlie, well he liked him from a distance and kept saying, "HO HO HO!" Sitting in his lap was another story.

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary, Travis! What an amazing 5 years it has been. I am so proud of the family and life that our love has made. To wake up each day as your wife is a blessing that I cherish. I could not ask for more in a husband, father or friend. I love you so much and am glad that we found each other. I hope I can be all to you that you have been to me. All my love, XXX -C

Bewitching, don't ya think?

Last night Lily tried on the witch hat she begged to buy so I could wear it on Halloween. You see, Lily is going to be a black cat and she wanted me to be the black cat's witch. I tried to explain to her that mommy doesn't need a hat or costume to go as a witch, but she just couldn't get it. I think daddy could.... ; )

On the farm

Last Saturday we spent the afternoon at Harmon's in Lexington. The kids had a great time on the haunted hayride and going through the corn maze. The picture of Lily covering her mouth was pretty much the position she kept while on the haunted hayride, which was not all that haunted. After our big day, we came home and made homemade pizza which the kids had a blast doing. We seem to be so busy all the time, so having a slow paced afternoon with the people you love most was wonderful.

Sunday

This Sunday we celebrated my birthday with Travis' family. The food was wonderful and we had a lot of fun. I hate that I didn't get a shot of Jake, and poor Chancellor wasn't well so he wasnt there. I did however get some cute shots of Lily and Sadie and Charlie and Mollie Grace.

So much fun!

Last Thursday was my 29Th birthday and we celebrated it at mom and dad's mountain house. It was such a special weekend! I got a beautiful ring from Travis and my 3 wonderful children, a very cool new digital camera from my parents and a bag full of fun stuff from my girlfriend Charis. We had a party on Saturday and when Travis and Chancellor drove up on Friday, they brought with them a dozen chocolate cupcakes from Chocolate Nirvana. Let me tell you, if I was going to the chair, I want those cupcakes as a last meal! We had so much fun going on golf chart rides and bear watching trips. Everything was perfect and while 29 is bittersweet, I can't think of a better way to celebrate my last birthday in my 20's.

The only glitch is that my kissing bandit husband (don't worry, it's a funny story) got everyone sick with his sore throat. He thought he was over it and no longer contagious when he arrived, but he still had the cooties. Since Sunday I have been in the bed. Charis got it and I have a picture to show why (HA HA) and now poor Chancellor is home in bed. Come to find out it's a viral strep throat infection and it stinks!

Now that I am feeling half way human again, I can really look forward to somethings. Like tonight is The Office premiere. Very excited about that. On Sunday we are going to my in-laws for my birthday celebration with that side of the family. MORE CAKE! :)

I hope everyone is doing well, I miss seeing so many of you. Until next time....

Happy Birthday Jake!

We spent Sunday afternoon in Camden celebrating our nephew Jake's 8th birthday. Emily made his cake, which was so neat. I told her that she is now queen supreme at cake design, and I want the Eiffel Tower for my upcoming birthday! I can not believe my 2nd favorite redheaded boy is 8, where does the time go!?!

Speaking of redheads, I included a picture of Charlie from the party. He had hours of run playing with the water hose. All boy I tell you, all boy......

About last night...

While a win is a win, last nights gamecock victory didn't feel so great. The team looked unorganized and clueless much of the night. I thought defense did a fair job, and Smelley looked much better than Beecher. I was hoping to be blown away and dazzled, oh well. I hope our team "shows up" at Vandy as Travis would say. As far as tomorrow goes, I'd just like to say two words....................ROLLLLLLLLLLLLLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy, happy, joy, joy!

Tomorrow night is the big night, can you feel it???!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOO COCKS! Can't believe it's finally here! I'm so excited! If anyone needs me on Thursday evening, I'll be jumping up and down on my couch, covering my mouth as not to wake up the sleeping babies....... :)

Lots and lots to tell....

First, I would like to say welcome to two special little people. Congratulations to Jamie and Lori Frost on the birth of Charleston Julia. Travis and I went to meet her and she is so beautiful, and her parents are beaming. (and don't ya just love her name???!!!)
Another congrats to Larry and Marlo Bergin on the birth of Lukas Edward. I have seen pictures of the handsome guy and spoken with the parents who are just over the moon! Congratulations again to you both!

Happy belated birthday to my mom who turned 32 on Saturday! ; ) We spent last week and weekend with my parents at their mountain home and celebrated her birthday with a big cocktail party Saturday night. We had so much fun! Travis and I especially enjoyed getting to know Brandon and Charis Gravley. We had so much fun together and became fast friends. Charis and I are already planning on having our birthday celebration together as our birthdays are only a few days apart. Speaking of, poor Brandon, I'm taking him jewelry shopping for Charis. Hehehe.

Chancellor's baseball team took 2nd place in their tournament this past weekend. He and the entire team were so excited! We are so proud of him.

Lily is continuing to be the boss at the Laffin residence. While she can be a little demanding (she gets that from her father) she is a huge help to me. She seems to appreciate our alone time all the more now and is constantly telling me how much she loves me.

Charlie is working on tooth number 4. Funny how we got all 4 teeth in 3 weeks! He has also learned how to nod yes and it is hilarious. It is a whole body nod when he does it. Today he is 13 months old, hard to believe.

Travis is away on business again and will be back on Friday afternoon. We all already miss him so much! He has been battling his bad ankle for about a week and a half now. It looks as if it is finally getting better, thanks goodness.

I think that is all, that's what I get for waiting so long to post! Love to all.....

I knew it was coming...

It was just a matter of time before it happened and last night it did. Lily, being of the best intentions, shared her buttermilk biscuit with extra butter with Charlie. I think I intercepted after only a few bites and managed to get what he had in his mouth out, but I'm not sure how much he actually got down. He ended up having a reaction with wheezing and coughing and a noise like he was trying to clear his throat. I was scared to death. After a large dose of benedryl he seemed to come around. Travis and I have told Lily a million times that she can never feed Charlie any food because a lot of foods could make him very sick. I asked her last night why she shared her biscuit and she said, mommy I didn't see any milk in it. I'm sure I'll look back in a few weeks and find the comedy in that but not quite yet. Fingers crossed that was the first and last time that ever happens!

Friday on the Lake

Last Friday our friends Karen and Greg Newman invited us to their lake house for the evening. We were fortunate enough to have my mother-in-law keep Charlie and Lily, so mommy and daddy could have a little "grown-up" time! We had so much fun. Greg and Karen are always the most gracious host. The company and the food could not have been better. The next morning waking up to the sun rising on the lake was beautiful. Thanks again guys for having us, we needed it!
