First Words!

Believe it or not, Charlie said his first two words. Yesterday in the car he started saying bye-bye and this morning he said mama and reached for me when he was crying! I am so glad Travis was standing right beside me or he would have never believed it! It was not babbling, he clearly said mama. He only tries to talk when he is getting upset. I don't remember Lily saying her first words till much later and even then, that was considered early. Charlie will be 6 months old tomorrow! I wonder where my children get their early desire to talk from??!!

They have more than one flavor?

Yes, Vegan Oatmeal . Good, but not as good as the chocolate chip. Even Travis said he couldn't tell the difference. I figure it's good info for all my meat and potato southern friends! HA!

NO WAY!

Oh my goodness! I am in HEAVEN! As most of you know by now, I am on a strict diet do to Charlie's milk protein allergy. Well, I will admit I have days when it's tough and I'm craving nachos and pizza and then I go weeks and don't really miss anything. The last few days I have been really in the mood for sweets. Now, I have become the authority/go-t0-gal on all things vegan and dairy free and I can say that there are only a few things out there worth eating. Most everything I have come across has been very poor substitutes for the "real thing", until 15 minutes ago. I just went in to Earth Fare to pick up a pint of my allergen free ice cream from Turtle Mountain (which is pretty good) and I found sweet salvation! In the bakery section was 100% Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies. I figured, I'm about to waste $1.19 on a cookie but heck, let's give it a whirl. OMG, they are one of the best cookies I have ever eaten, ever!! I'm soooo happy! Yummy, yum, yum!

Away again

Travis left yesterday afternoon for another trip to Texas. Lily, Charlie and I already miss him so much. He comes back late Sunday night. He decided to squeeze in some duck hunting in Mississippi since he was only 4 hours away. Here's to good luck for ducks and work!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAM!

Happy Birthday Cam, man, 22 again! :) I don't think Travis and I will get to Doc's for the big birthday bash tomorrow night, but I know you will have a great time. I guess it's safe to assume Susan will be driving home!! Happy Birthday, we love you! XXX...Charleston

I did it and I said I never would...

I have a myspace page. The ONLY reason I ended up doing it, is because Stephanie said I would get all the best gossip. Shameless........

Birthday Pics

As promised, a few birthday pics! The first is the giant cupcake cake I made, I think it turned out really cute. Then a picture of Lily and her cousin Sadie and then one of her digging in her ice cream. I still can't believe she is 3!

A widow, again....

It's duck season and with the return of my *favorite* time of year, my nickname, the Widow Laffin, returns. Travis left yesterday afternoon until Sunday evening for another camping/duck hunting adventure. Last night the temperature dropped to the single digits in the rural areas, so I imagine my hubby had frost on his pumpkin this morning. Actually, I love that he has something that he is so passionate about and is really good at. I just hate that he is gone for days at a time and then comes home and has to leave again for work. I guess that's a good thing, missing him. Maybe when we have been married for 20 years or so I'll be thrilled for him to get out of the house!?

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! We just returned for a much needed vacation to the mountains. Our friends Robert and Julie Stockman and their children, Turner and Gracie went with us and we all had a great time. Chancellor and Lily played and ate their way through the vacation and had a ball. We had one day of bad weather but overall everything was nice. Travis and Robert cooked an amazing dinner for everyone on New Year's Eve. My mom said what a treat to have the men in the kitchen! I'm spoiled I guess, because Trav is always the gourmet at our house. Lucky me, he's cute and he cooks! ;)

Prince Charles is getting over his first ear infection. We caught it early so it wasn't too bad. He now weighs 15lbs. 9 oz. and is 25 1/2 inches long. I can't believe he is already 5 months!

I've already been thinking about the new year and how many things will happen. Chancellor will turn 10, Lily will be 4 and Charlie will be 1! Hard to believe, and biggest of all, Travis is turning the big 4-0! This coming November, Travis and I will be married 5 years. Time flies!

I wish all of you a wonderful, safe New Year, rich with blessings and good fortune! Can't wait to see what will come to be in '08! Love to all!
